João José Silva Abranches Garcia, (born June 11, 1967, in Lisbon, Portugal) is a leading mountaineer in Portugal.On May 18th, 1999, he became the first Portuguese man to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and In 20 July 2007, João Garcia reached the summit of K2, the second higher mountain in the world, making his ninth successful ascent of 8000+ mountains without use any bottled oxygen.
