June 15, 2004 Looking east...

Looking east at the 5671 m (18606 ft) Mt. Damavand from the slopes of Dizin. Unfortunately I could not take a decent picture of Damavand. By the time I reached the top, it was lost in the haze. On sunny winter days, the view of Damavand is fantastic.

Good view

Looks Fuji like from this angle- less variation then Elbrus or Orizaba.

Thank you for sharing.

There are very few good pictures of Damavand on this site. This one is great and has a perfect angel.

Re: Thank you for sharing.

I have recently realized that the double summit to the right is the 3691 m Kaasoonak Peak. I wonder what the mountain immediately to the right of Damavand is, possibly Asbi Kaalak Peak (3820 m)?

Well, I have not the map of this area and therefore asked someone else for help. Your observation is correct. That mountain immediately to the right of Damavand is Asbi Kaalak Peak, which is also sometimes called Aseman Kooh.

Re: Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your note. During my recent trip, I saw Asbi Kaalak Peak from not too far away. It is a very impressive peak in its own right. It is funny how Damavand dwarfs everything around it. In this view, Asbi Kaalak appears as a foothill at the base of the great Damavand!
