Hi Maurice, thanks for all the love on my sunset/sunrise pictures today! Well the main thing I do is to meter the camera on the brightest object. That is usually snow or sky. Hold the shutter down slightly to meter on that, then move the camera for the best composition, then snap the picture. That gives you a good balance of light and dark. With this picture, that's all it took.
