Left Cairns at 8 am up the Kuranda range and got to the trail head via the standard Davies Creek track at 930 and it was cool in the forest, took 4 hours to get up then an hour looking around.  A quality walk with splendid views as you are near the highest point of the Lamb range . I  was suitably impressed with the fresh water tank at the top (1236m) I couldn't fathom how it was so cold and full for what was a dry day.  On the way down we saw a what was probably a blue coloured tree python? Then half an hour later a freshwater snake.  All in all a ten hour day including driving but can easily be done in 6.
