Karangetang

Karangetang

Rim of the main crater at the summit in 2007. The 2006 eruptions have blown a depression into the summit lava dome, forming a "proper" crater. While this was during a quiet period, the mountain was still very much alive. There was steam everywhere and small gravel-sized rocks could be heard falling within the crater almost constantly. Most of the fog seen here are actually weather clouds though, making a decent look around impossible.
