Khaydy-Pe Mtn (1240 m) and Karsky Glacier Cirque, Arctic Ural
Khaydy-Pe (a.k.a. Khoyta-Pe) is the highest-elevation summit in the rugged, glaciated massif separating Little Usa and Little Kara rivers. But it stands at the very North-Western edge of the massif, kind of away from the deepest cirques and biggest glaciers. That's why we chose to climb a 20-ft lower Sputnik instead.
View NE from Sputnik Plateau. From the deep gap of Uraganny Pass (850 m) in the middle of the picture, the route to Khaydy-Pe is along a wide ridge to the right. A rugged no-name pyramid 1096 m to the left rises above Karsky Glacier, the source of Little Kara.
