Kilauea

Kilauea has been erupting continuously since 1983. Be sure to bring a flashlight if visiting the lava flows at night. Although there is a beacon at the parking area approximately three miles away, a flashlight is required for hiking across the rough solidified lava. I assisted an elderly gentleman (who's wife returned to their car without telling him) back across the lava. He was very concerned she was lost on the lava flows. Why she returned to their car without telling him is a mystery to me.
