Kessy Tours is one of the more competitive priced companies. Our pricing was based on there being seven of us. There are some perks you might get if you pay more, like a higher end hotel in Moshi, a table in a tent at lunch time on the trail, a private choo tent (that last one would be worth extra!) We were happy with everyone we dealt with with Kessy Brothers. For airline tickets, you just have to watch those and buy at the right time.
MH, I remember you telling me you were going to climb this mountain last year. Great trip report. The first picture, just makes me want to stop what I doing right now and fly to the mountain. Thanks for sharing the experience.
I didn’t consider Kili near the top of the list either, but I’m glad Dorthe decided we should do it. Climbing Kilimanjaro is more than just summiting a mountain. Some of the plant life down lower makes you feel like you’re on another planet. Higher up was more familiar terrain. But then there is the rest of the country. Going on safari, visiting native villages and experiencing being in a place that has a lot of interesting contrasts all has a huge impact.
your experience. I enjoyed your report, and -moreover- your great pictures gave me a good idea of what Machame route looks like (we summited Kili via Marangu last september).
Your welcome. Thank you for your comment. My hope was to pick some pictures that would inform. For instance, that's why I choose a distance shot of the summit, instead of the usual picture at the sign.
Love the descriptive report and the photos... even the choo... wow does that ever look nasty but the trip certainly sounds like it was worth suffering through the choo's!!! ;)

Re: What an experience!Your welcome. For you it's still a shorter drive to Colorado than the plane flight to Africa!

Re: Nice Report! Thanks. It was a really great experience. Not just the mountain, but the whole trip. It was a challenge condensing it down to this report.
