Kingston, New Mexico

The Victorio Hotel in Kingston, New Mexico. The hotel was built in 1883 with three stories but suffered significant fire damage to its top floor during a fire in the 1930s. Nestled in the eastern foothills of the Black Range, Kingston was the largest metropolis in the New Mexico Territory in 1890 with a population of 7,000. Today, with a population of only 30, it is a virtual ghost town. Photo taken 8/25/07.

Victorio Hotel

My parents bought the Victorio Hotel in the early to middle 60's. They renovated it partially and then sold it around the late 70's or early 80's. I remember spending our summers there and how much fun we had roaming around Kingston. My husband proposed to me on the steps of the old bank.
