Kocenpoh

Kocenpoh

From below Crna Prst a creek flows down in Baca river. It's name is Kocenpoh. A strange name for Slovenian language, but understandable - because its origin is not Slovenian, but German. It obviously means 'Katzen Bach' - The Cat's Creek. There are many more German toponymes in these places. Indeed a strong German speaking minority from Tyrol was living on terraces below Crna Prst. The Rut village is still today referred as 'Nemski Rut' - 'The Deutsches Rut'. As you can see, through this creek also a nice hike goes up. Photo: Jasmina Pogacnik.

Re: Wonderful Bohinj!

Thanks Kenzo! In general, Bohinj is nice, yes. But this gorge is not so special. And, strictly speaking it lies outside Bohinj valley. But doesn't matter. I'm glad you like it.
Cheers!
