Hell of a crevasse

What is this? The Kumbu Ice Fall?

Re: Hell of a crevasse

It's a big crevasse in the upper part of the north flank of Barre des Ecrins. There is no chance to cross it without a ladder this year.

Greetings to CA.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to your Photo of the Day - a very impressive one; Noondueler is right - this really has the "Himalayan touch" to it!
Many greetings,
Eric

Re: Congratulations!

...yes, thought about the himalaya-feeling, too.

Thank you very much!

Nice!

Great photo, this is Glacier Blanc (5km)?

Re: Nice!

Yes and no, it's the north face of Barre des Ecrins, which "feeds" the lower Glacier Blanc.

It's the last bigger crevasse before you have to cross the bergschrund/rimaye. Maybe at ~3.850m.
