this photo is taken from the E border of the dam on the opposite side of the lake you can see a road that lead up first to a big stable(starting point of the path to lago Tom) and then to Cadagno (starting point of the path to Rifugio Cadagno (restaurant) and Cadagno lake The Cadagno lake is worth to be visited due to a strange peculiarity : it is made by 2 superimposed lakes : the upper one made of fine clear and drinkable water the lower one made of dangerous and poisoned water between the 2 layers a red layer made of sulphur-bacteria that avoid the blending of the two kinds of water : this phenomenon is known as meromictic (meromissi) The road to the dam is always open (payment parks almost everywhere ... but ... The road to Cadagno is open to private cars till 9 o'clock in the morning and after 5 o' clock in the afternoon (payment parking)
