The roads have changed a little since the main guides were written in 1978-1997. Ask me for a GPS track if you need one; mainly check the google earth maps for recent roads. Hampton is a bit more manageable for a day hike (vs Hendrys) for folks with 2wd or modest clearance. Blue for drive, red for hike. See 24k map.
