Liberty Crack

Liberty Crack

Shirley in the moat beneath Liberty Bell's east face on approach to Liberty Crack. The early morning approach on icy snow w/o ax or crampons was a good way to get the blood going (July 7, 2007).

Nice Shot!

Great light on this shot. But the look on Shirley's face isn't a happy one. How was the route?

Re: Nice Shot!

thanks Jason.
Yeah, the snow was icy (no ax or poons) so we took a beeline for the moat and then traversed the moat to base...sucked :)
The route was only OK in my opinion. Aid pitches were the funnest (good position) but not really that challenging. Free climbing was not that fun (awkward, slick, bit o' choss).
