| highpeakskier | First Big Wall Trad Route ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 16, 2008 | |
| A great experience, climbed 2 routes, The Center Thumb and The Lowe Route. Both were excellent, the crux on The Center Thumb is a very exposed lay back move using a finger crack, unforgettable! This was the second time to the summit, first time was in January 2008, we made a ski ascent via Big Willow. | ||

| I lived in the shadow of Lone Peak my entire life to age 18. When I returned home from the service, my cousin and I decided to climb to the top from my home in Draper. We carried backpacks and camped one night below the peak and reached the summit the next day. The day is approximate, the month and year are correct. | ||

| Rocky Alps | Route Climbed: Jacobs Ladder ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 9, 2008 | |
| We took 10 hours (with some long breaks), taking Jacobs Ladder. The granite in the cirque and on the summit ridge made for some great climbing, and it felt rewarding sitting on top of the tiny summit. The descent back down Jacobs Ladder was a little hard on the knees. See "Monarch of the Wasatch" trip report for details. | ||

| tmcrane | via Cherry Canyon ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 9, 2008 | |
| We began at Orson Smith Trailhead and took Cherry Canyon trail, crossing over to Draper Ridge trail at approx. 8,500 ft. Rather than following the faint trail back to the SW, we maintained our elevation and headed directly south until intersecting the DR trail. The bushwhacking wasn't bad at all and seemed to make for a more direct route. Followed DR and then Jacob's Ladder the rest of the way to the summit. Followed the same route down. Round trip time was 10 hours. I took 4 liters of water and finished them off about twenty minutes from the car, so 5 or 6 liters might be a good idea. Overall, an inspiring peak with great views. | ||

| laynewilson | Bear/Cherry Canyon Route ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 12, 2007 | |
| I climbed this peak for the 5th time on August 10, 2007. This time we started at the Cherry Canyon logging trail starting at the new Orson Hyde trail head at 0800. It took us about 4.5 to get to outlaw cabin, and about another 2.5 to get on top of the summit. This is a very long route, but very scenic. I do not recommend doing this hike alone. During the hot summer months, I recommend taking at least 1.5 gallons of liquid with you because there is only one spring on the mountain if you do the bear canyon route. I usually will freeze 3 32oz bottles of Poweraid, and take 3 more 32 oz bottles and water in my pack and work them through the day. I can’t emphasis enough, take plenty of water. I have been on this mountain 5 times from different routes and it always is a mountain that deserves care and respect. The final approach to the summit is very technical and tricky and not for the faint of heart. It is a project to climb this mountain from any route, but you will be glad you did. The views are spectacular. Coming off the mountain, we thought we were in the wrong canyon, but fortunately with good maps, land nav skills and a GPS locator, we got back on track. It got dark on us. We went back down the bear canyon trail, and the view of the valley was wonderful. On the way down, we met several night hikers coming up. We finally got back to the vehicle about midnight. Lone Peak is one of my favorite hikes because of its views, difficulty to access, and unique summit. | ||

| Up and down Cherry Canyon. So much fun in an amazing place! Took us over 12 hours but worth every minute. Definitely recommend the CC trail...having the water available in Bear Canyon is a bit of heaven. | ||

| spengy | Good times ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 28, 2008 | |
| Woke up at 6:00 AM this morning. Drove to the Orson Smith trailhead in Draper. I was on the trail by 7:00 AM. It got hot really fast. I made it to the peak by noon. I played on the peak for an hour or two (calling friends and family to boast, of course) then headed down. Let's just say I took a somewhat 'unconventional' route down the mountain, but I made it OK. Boy, the west side of this mountain is a SCORCHER on a hot summer day. Coming down that part of the mountain was fairly unpleasant. I was down by 5:45, IIRC. On the plus side, I didn't run into any rattlesnakes. Seems like I can't go on a hike these days without running into one. The Bear/Cherry Canyon route is long and it gains a lot of elevation. (6000-something feet?) Great mountain. | ||

| I was a young buck (19) taking my even younger cousin (14). This was our first attempt at summiting anything! I had wanted to summit this peak since I was ~11. We went up Jacob's Ladder and down Draper Ridge. We were both EXHAUSTED after, what we thought was, a grueling hike. It was a beautiful hike and, to this day, Lone Peak is my Favorite summit! | ||

| Loved it! One of my favorite climbs. We came up via Schoolhouse Springs, and climbed about 6,000 verticle feet. Had to walk a ways to get to the Lone Peak Wilderness trailhead sign at the lower Hamongog. I brought 5 liters of water, and drank it all by the time we got back down to the upper Hamongog. And that was on a cool day. There is a small stream there, though a little hard to find the water. Took about 13 hours. Saddle from south to real summit looks scarier than it is:) Lots of fun. | ||
