Looking down along the NE ridge of Mont de l'Etoile

The summit of Mont de l'Etoile has a huge cairn, and I'm standing right beside it. Another big cairn can be seen further down the NE ridge. As I'm zooming in a bit, this photo does not show the top part of the NE ridge, which is actually a bit more tricky than this part, but you can still clearly see that it's dangerously corniced, with a really steep face on the left. Best to stay well to the right of the edge. According to my map, the elevation of that lower summit is 3330 m, or 40 m lower than the main one. I'll be heading in that direction, but well before I get there I'll be leaving the ridge to descend the slopes on the right. 11 March 2014.
