Looking southeast from the...

Looking southeast from the south ridge of Buckskin Benchmark. The ridge descending down in this photo is not the south ridge but the southeast ridge that separates the Willow Lake Basin from the Minnehaha Basin. Descending this ridge is easy class 3. You can see Willow Lake in the upper left of the photo. Also, notice the two highpoints straight ahead, the saddle in-between is where you want to go to drop back down to Maroon Lake. Pyramid Peak is the highpoint at the top right.

the green grass...

... mixes so well with the reds of the Maroon Formation. I miss the Elk Range, gorgeous!

Re: the green grass...

Ryan, you're suduced by my old bad habit of using a polorizer. A polorizer and the Elks makes for Emerald City/Wizard of Oz kind of stuff. The Elks turned up a notch, makes the juices begin to flow.

My opinion, polorizers are cool to a point, but sometimes they reproduce images to a place where the only way to explain the color burst is a polorizer. Yikes.

I hope we get some good weather.
