Looking up at the crux of...

Looking up at the crux of Mahler's east ridge (August 29, 2004). The lighting isn't that great in this photo and examining it the day I took I can't even pick out my route of descent. Suffice to say, it was a real test of my scrambling skills and my nerve.

Yeah, I'd say it was similar to Kit Carson's north ridge but the rock wasn't near as stable. I'd say easily one-in-two holds was worthless and would pull out if you put any weight on it. Consequently it was quite a bit scarier than Kit Carson and took even greater care. The tough, class 4 part was only about 100 feet though.
