Aha, that's what under the snow

When I climbed Adams in July, all that was visible was the top of the pole that is on top of the building. Cool pic.

Re: Aha, that's what under the snow

When we climbed Adams on 31 July 1994 only the highest portion of the roof with southern exposure was visible. People were sunbathing on it. I had no idea that so much of the old mining cabin is still upright. This photo confirms the exceptionally hot, dry summer we've had here in the Pacific Northwest.

Shack for miners?

Was this for miners and their taffy, stables for mules, or a forest fire lookout---maybe all three--who knows?

Re: Shack for miners?

From these photos it looks as though that would be part of the old mining shack, they mined sulfur and some coal. But keep in mind that there was a fire look out up there but it is gone now, if you look around hard enough you may still be able to find where it once was, it was just a small building with the lookout on the sencond level, not the old tall look outs.
