Famous Mountaineer

I feel privileged and lucky to be a friend and climbing partner with Lou. He has a remarkable climbing and professional resume: including the first American, along with Jim Wickwire, to climb K2. In my opinion Lou is a world class athlete with legendary strength, stamina, and survival instinct. We took a fall descending from the Aiguille Vert in the French Alps, leap frogging down the steep glacier. My ice ax was ripped out of my hands when the force of his passing me pulled on me in self arrest. As I plummeted past him he held his self arrest like a rock, stopping both of us when the rope between us drew taught after I rocketed past him!
