Margherita Peak, North Face

This is a view of the North Face of Mt. Stanley from the slopes of Mt. Speke. Margherita is the main peak in the center of the view. Albert is the lower summit on the right. The East Ridge of Alexandra Peak with its rime formations can be seen to the left of Margherita Peak. The usual ascent of Margherita Peak is from the Stanley Plateau (The ice along the left horizon of the picture, descending down onto the Margherita Glacier, which is the large glacier between Margherita Peak and the rime encrusted ridge of Alexandra, then ascending this up and to the right towards the summit. The final part of the ascent is out of sight on the south side of Margherita Peak.
