Marmitte dei Giganti

Marmitte dei Giganti

Near the town of Nago, there are quite popular crags, quickly reachable from the road. Some og them are distinct geological features, called "Giants' Cauldrons". In other areas of Alps, they are called "glacier mills". They were originated by strong water strams, flowing out of glaciers after the last ice age (Wurm period). In many cases in cauldrons big rocks were pushed by glaciers. As water was rolling them, that even deepened cauldrons in limestone. Near the cauldrons of Nago, there are also many polished crags which are very popular with climbers. April 16th, 2022.
