South-west ridge ascen  Sucess!

Started at Lluc Monastery to do a very long loop including the Massanella summit. After negotiating the dark forest we headed up the panoramic sentiero to finally end up in Coll des Prat. From there took the traverse towards Puig de ses Bassetes and switched to the south-west ridge once we rounded its base. Very steep and somewhat exposed hiking took us to the secondary summit, from where we traversed the summit plateau to the crowded main summit. Returned via the normal route

Great view!  Sucess!

Normal route, on a hot summer morning, via Coll de Coma Freda. Started at 7.20 from Coll de Sa Bataia, a really nice walk through the forest.
At 9.40 on the summit, the sun was already burning heavily. On my way back, around 11.15, near to Coma Freda I met some British tourists heading the mountain. I hope they survived the tour without severe sunburns.

This tour really offers everything: nice walk through forests, some climbing over rocks and an unforgettable view from the top - especially if the Massanella and the Puig Major are the only islands in a sea of clouds....
