Matterhorn North Face and the approaching Storm

Matterhorn North Face and the approaching Storm

Whilst getting the abseil rope stuck on the Grand Gendarme of the Arbengrat, whilst descending this route on the Obergablehorn, we watched with increasing concern as TWO massive storms brewed up over the Matterhorn and the Dent Blanche. This was 2003. It was stinkin' hot and a great chunk fell off the Hornli route stranding a load of climbers on that route.

Re: Scary weather...

Cheers for the link, looking at the close up pictures of the hornli ridge, it's no wonder bits of it fall off!
