Thanks for the vote and comment. I had seen these mountains on the east side of Buena Vista for years and always wondered about them. Since I do not live near the mountains, whenever I come to Colorado, I end up spending my time on the high peaks. On my most recent short trip, I decidied to climb Midland Hill on the same day that I arrived in Colorado (Got up 3:30 a.m. in Wisconsin, drove to Chicago, took the flight to Denver, drove to Buena Vista and climbed Midland Hill even before I checked in my motel in Buena Vista). The Juniper Forest, the interesting boulders and rock formations proved to be quite scenic. I suppose the view of the 14ers to the west will be great during the morning hours (and not afternoon like I did).
