Mike Woodmansee cruising Sourdough Ridge on the way to Elephant Butte in August of 1985. Getting onto Sourdough is a mindless grunt up steep trail, but then you're rewarded with a 4-mile stroll along this gently rolling crest on snow, rock, and heather. There's no trail and no particular need for one.
