Overview/Approach

Scrambled Legs, 5.10c*
Scrambled Legs, 5.10c*

Milepost is a unique tower like formation located next to the road in the Roadside Rocks area and is just meters from the second paved parking area along the road west of Intersection Rock.  Most folks parking here are after easier routes at Playhouse or Cathouse therefore Milepost’s routes do not see much action.  In fact, neither of its routes offer up clean rock leading one to believe they are not climbed often at all.  Although Miramontes guide gives both a recommendation, neither of these routes on Milepost should be given a recommendation (star) in Miramontes guide.  This short face has rotten rock and aging fixed hard wear (2018).   There is a fixed rap anchor atop them.  They are located on the east face of Milepost.

Park at the second pull out (south side of the road) after Intersection Rock and you will be facing both routes to the west on the monolith.

Route Descriptions:  Left to Right Facing the East Wall

Scrambled Leggs- 30’-5.10c*/ Make fun powerful under clings and side pulls with good feet up to below the lone bolt.  After the clip, make the crux move up and right on delicate face and slab for a long reachy jug.  Easier varnished rock to the top, same rap as Gettysburger.  Dow

Gettysburger- 30’-5.10b*/  Stem up a 4th class chimney to the committing move to the main face, under clinging whilst make the first clip.  Lay back up to a stance at the 2nd clip which is an old button head bolt and rusty hanger as of 2018.  This suspect fixed pro protects the crux portion of the pitch.  Make a power single leg push followed by a balancing toe ledge with no hands to make the third clip.  Then up vertical, but positive, varnished rock to the top.  Fixed rap is climber's right.  Dow
