Misti trailhead

The start of the climb, or the high altitude hike, depending on the conditions higher up. Due to the unseasonal amount of snow for the time of year, we would need crampons for the last few hundred meters - but I'm getting ahead of myself here. 14 May 2011.

It was much more beautiful than I had expected! Normally, around this time of year, there is no snow on the mountain anymore, but this year the rainy season had apparently dropped a lot more snow than normal.

Misti is 5822m high. If there is no snow, it's just a walk up, albeit a very high one.
