Mojave Yucca in Bloom

Mojave Yucca in Bloom

The Mojave Yucca is also called the Spanish Dagger because it has long, narrow leaves with needle-like points at the ends. It grows on rocky slopes and the hot desert floor. The flowers are bell-shaped and from 1 to 2 inches long. Photographed in Red Rock, Nevada. The peaks in the background are Rainbow Peak (left) and Rainbow Wall (right).
