Monument Basin

Monument Basin as seen from the Grand View Point overlook atop Island In The Sky. The White Rim Road is clearly visible below; La Sals are in the far background (on left) mostly shrouded in the clouds; Colorado River flows down the main canyon in the background. The most phallic shaped tower inside the basin (roughly center and in the shade) is the famous (300+ feet tall) Standing Rock (with its Kor Route III 5.11c) tower.

weird...

but we have discussed this before I believe, that there are two Island in the Sky's so close to each other in the same state. Will visit Canyonland NP for first time this April. Cheers.

that is definitely possible. Not sure about the "where" part though. It might be like the case of a "Standing Rock" - there are at least 2 of those in Canyonlands NP alone :)

Where?

no there is another, I meant I believe we have discussed it before. It is in Snow Canyon State Park just of St. George. It is a sub-mountain feature of rock called Island in the Sky. Tremendous climbing routes all over it. Been on it several times, added it to SP. Look forward to using some of your Moab beta. Cheers.
