Good mates and a sunny day  Sucess!

As a tradition some relatives and me attempted Morezón around Christmas day. So my brother Juan, his wife Astrid and my cousin Fernando joined me while we went in the mountains. We drove two cars from Avila to Plataforma, where we started the ascent. There was some ice on the rocky trail to Prado Pozas but we could surround it without putting crampons on. We ascended quickly leaving Prado Pozas below and to the right. Then the snow was a bit more deep but went straight to the right of Cuerda del Refugio til Cerro de la Cagarruta (2299 m). There Juan decided to wear his crampons and we put ours for the descent to the col just before Morezón final slope. So the steep ascent on that section was safe and fast. We reached Morezón summit just before turning left to the northern foresummit where we stayed having lunch. The descent was quick on the same route of ascent without ascending Cerro de la Cagarruta.

Almost without snow in December  Sucess!

Nadie and me ascended Morezón by the normal route. Just before reaching the wide col and Navasomera we stoped to eat something when it started to rain. It continued only on the ascend to the ridge. Then we could see a beautiful rainbow towards La Mira. Circo de Gredos' peaks were more snowed than Morezón and Laguna Grande was a bit frozen. When descending we trode Point 2295 and Cerro de la Cagarruta (2299 m) and then the descent was quick on the same route as the ascent. The temperature (2ºC) was not as low as when there is snow almost in all the route...

Thunderstorm approaching  Sucess!

We started at Plataforma de Gredos and decided to hike to Circo de Gredos (Laguna Grande) first. Returned halfway to take Troncha Real in the direction of Morezon and left it to climb to the top. Nice views but as we were having lunch clouds started to pile up. During our descent thunderclaps rolled over the area and we rushed to get back to plataforma. We just reached it before the deluge started

Skiing in the cold wave  Sucess!

It was an error to take my AT skis that day having the snow in such different conditions. It was hard as ice in many sections with powder areas in between. Anyway, Nadie (snowshoes) and me could ascend Morezón by the normal route and descended on the same way. From Plataforma to Prao Pozas there was no sufficient snow to ski.

Perhaps I've ascended Morezón 25-30 times but I can't remember when was the first. It could be hiking in the early 80s with my dad, any brothers and cousins...

Morezon   Sucess!

We climbed this from the Refugio del Elola on a very sunny Saturday. The snow conditions were ideal, although it was getting a bit soft by around 2pm. The summit views were amazing. What a trip.

View point over Circo de Gredos  Sucess!

Climbed solo from the Laguna Grande with a straight fowards approach to the top. Very snowy conditions, and alone during all the trip. Excellent weather (hot) so the snow was getting soft by moments...
I descended to the Plataforma by the Refugio del Rey.
Excellent views to the Circo de Gredos,...!!

Nice views of cirque  Sucess!

In the descent of Almanzro we climbed Morezon in the return to Plataforma de Gredos. A very good access with snow it's the entry from the path after Laguna Grande turning to right side to cuerda de cuerno alto to get the wide ridge to the summit. The views of cirque de Gredos from the summit are great!
