Started at Cruz Grande and hiked the upper Pilancones Ridge towards the Morro. Before we reached it we turned off left hiking along its eastern base. The map had promised a trail back up to the summit but the terrain looked unforgiving. We hiked further and further south until we reached the saddle to Montana Alta. Here I thought I saw the remainders of a trail, which seemed to lead in the right direction. After some discussions we went on the trail and it led us through a lonesome vally right up to the plateau on top of the Morro. From there it was only 500m to the summit, which somehow was an anticlimax with its radio antenna.
