Route Climbed: NW ridge Date Climbed: July 26, 1997
In the 2nd edition of Kane's book, he had the NW ridge as the main route so that's what I did. He has now switched it to being the alternate descent route and the Hector Pass route being preferred. Speaking from experience, the loose scree on the NW ridge likely makes it a better descent route.
Route Climbed: Molar Glacier Date Climbed: Aug 26 2003
We were actually aiming for Mt. Hector but started up the wrong valley (hey, it was 4:00am). Instead of an easy glacier walk up Hector we got an exciting steep(ish) climb up the Molar glacier -- 45-50 degrees with some short vertical steps. Used a few screws for a running belay. Excellent route. It's not in Dougherty's book but I'm sure it's been done before. I'll post it one of these days.
