Re: Nice

Thanks - you can call the DOC center in St. Arnaud for current conditions info ... (03)521-1806. I just listed it listed under a new heading (current conditions) as well.

Cheers,
Howie

Great

Good job. Angelus Hut is definitely one of the best located huts I visited in NZ that's accessible to hikers/trampers. As an extra: did this mountain in 2000 on a 9-day hike in the Nelson Lakes NP. I combined the Travers - Sabine Circuit and the d'Urville Valley Track, with St-Arnaud as base. A good option for a beautiful and remote alpine tramping experience + gets away from the crowds in other NP's or the Great Walks.

Cheers

Re: Great

Thanks! I'm jealous you got to do the whole Travers-Sabine/d'Urville - I really wanted to get to Blue Lake but we only had a weekend before we had to be back in Nelson.

Cheers,
Howie

Thanks for another ...

....great kiwi page. With all the info you've posted recently, I'll never have to do another Great Walk again. Keep 'em coming.

Re: Thanks for another ...

Thanks! It's nice to get off the Great Walks from time to time - it certainly pays to look around for other options.

Cheers,
Howie

Re: Thanks for another ...

Agreed. Did the Routeburn in January. Never seen so many people in a so-called wilderness setting before. Came back on the Greenstone and saw one other tramper. Next time I'm down there Angelus and Fox are on my list.

Cheers,

Martin
