Route Climbed: Upper East Ridge Date Climbed: July 19, 2005  Sucess!

Although the easiest route on this fine peak is probably from the valley above Chinns Lake and Sherwin Lake to Mt Eva's Southwest Ridge, we began our trip at Fall River Reservoir, with the hope of climbing Eva and then traversing north to Parry before returning down the same valley. We left from the road's end at the reservoir and hiked north below the dam, and then followed a faint trail along the north side of the lake. From the west end, there are a few weak trails that head steeply up the 300 foot headwall west of the lake into the pristine upper valley. A small waterfall and many wildflowers greeted us despite the drought conditions. Eventually our hike up valley we neared a small tarn at 12,140' and then chose a steep route south to the first saddle east of Mt. Eva's summit along it's East ridge. From the saddle it is another steep 400' to the summit with some fine Class III scrambling along boilerplate slabs and ledges to to final summit plateau. Due to building storms, we did not continue the traverse to Parry, but instead descended our ascent route.

Route Climbed: from Parry Peak Date Climbed: 17 September 2005  Sucess!

Long day, solo, climbed all the way over from Rogers Pass trailhead 2 miles north of James Peak, and back by the same route. Cloudless day -- when the wind wasn't blowing it was hot but when the wind did blow it was blowing hard. It's no wonder the telecommunications tower has blown over.
