| Bierstadt across the Sawtooth to Evans and down the East Ridge to a dicey creek jump and swamp walk across the willows. Great day. West Evans looks like a good ski route and I wonder what the technical opportunities are up the sawtooth from the base? | |

| Beautiful day so despite a late start (728 AM) and a somewhat slow pace (just over 5 hours to the summit) the view from the top was stunning. A female marathoner recently moved from PA passed me on the way up like I was standing still but I managed to pass everyone else I met on the trail. On the way down two hikers shared a laugh with me about the four wheel drive road on the west slope of Blanca Peak. The road down Evans might wind and turn but it made for a nice descent back to Summit Lake for a change before descending down to Chicago Lakes. Great hike! | |

| Needed a break from school, so drove to the trailhead with a friend who also had the day off. First CO 14'er for me, albeit I wouldn't say I climbed it. 90 in Denver, 32 (windchill) at summit. Apparently car manufacturers take new model cars up to the parking lot at the summit to test how the brakes perform at altitude (they go as high as they can, I guess), so saw some test drives and unreleased cars. A nice trip, only took a few hours. | ||

| Did Evans after crossing the Sawtooth ridge form Bierstadt. Also saw some mountain goats and only a couple fo people until we hit the zoo...I mean the summit. I am not sure I agree with people signing the summit register who drove it up. | |

| This was done early in conjunction with a summit of Spalding from Guanella Pass, then later in the day by car. One scoffs at the latter, but it's kind of an interesting experience. There are all types of folks up there on a crowded holiday weekend. | |

| Cut one switchback down low, then a long, windy, 5 mile slog up the road to the standard n.e. slopes route. Congrats to Steve Gladbach who becomes only the 4th person to complete the CO 14ers in calendar winter. Strong group of folks to be out with! | |

| This was a huge day. Steve Gladbach finished climbing Colorado's Fourteeners per winter today!!!!! He's the 4th person to do so. Was privledged to accompany him up Evans through some brutal winds alongside his brother, Bill, Mark, Greg, Darin Baker, Kevin Baker and Sarah Thompson. A sunny but ~18 mile RT day with excellent people! | |

| Evans via Bierstadt and Sawtooth. Remind me to never climb another mountain that has a paved road all the way to the top. Battled several van loads of tourists trying to find the "high point" after spending over 5 hours getting there. Would recommend just stopping at the West Summit to enjoy the views. Its only a few feet lower in altitude, and will probably be empty. | |
