An epic first winter ascent of a route on Mt Barnicoat from the Pioneer hut with Steve written up in the NZ Alpine Jounral the following year. No lasting injuries. Great destination!

Route climbed: Northwest Ridge
Camped above Mt. Fox on the ridge leading to Craig Peak, and continued in the morning to a highpoint of 5235 feet on the ridge. Fog quickly swept up the valley, making the descent quite an ordeal. See my trip report for a full account.
