Excellent. I'm wondering if the Donald L. Baars in the "The American Alps: The San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado" reference you mention is the same guy who has the 1st ascent (1950) of Steins Pillar in OR?

That's interesting, but doesn't your page say that his name is Donald J Baars? Even if the names matched up, I'd still hesitate because American Alps is very much a geology book and not a climbing book. I appreciate the vote!
Actually the "J" was a typo when I took the excerpt from Beckey's book. It is "L".....still could be a coincidence (not sure what this guy's background was). Anyway..nice page.
