Went back to Gould almost exactly 5 years later. Not much effect from the altitude this time; interesting how the body adapts over the years. Anyway, hiked from Kearsarge Pass. Still some decent snow to the pass and clear to the summit (two small snow fields that can be avoided). A little warm on the way up but otherwise a great hike! Didn't see anyone beyond the pass.
First summit - Aug 12, 2006.
Climbed with Allen (see below) as a dayhike from Huntington Beach. Woke up at 3:30am and got back home around 1am. A long but fun day! I tend to get affected by altitude fairly easily and wondered if I would be able to make it from sea-level to 13k feet in a day. I noticed the altitude right at the trailhead. I tried to keep up the pressure breathing and only got a severe headache right near the summit.
Well acclimatized, it definitely would've been easier but it was nonetheless very enjoyable. Awesome scenery and views!

Acclimation HikeFound my way up here without knowing what the peak was called. Was pleased to find a register. The summit block itself is a fun little challenge.

Gould DiggingI like Mt. Gould - an easy 13er with a fun summit block and a time-saving scree descent. I have climbed it seven times between 2007 and 2014.
