I find myself wishing I could have been there with you guys! Excellent page, Kane. I'm curious, on any of your West Elk trips have you ever seen Gunnison's southeast ridge where it lines Coal Creek? On the map, that looks like some pretty interesting topography... Don't forget to mention that Gunnison is Colorado's 13th most prominent!
I'm thinking it may be time for a West Elks grouping on SP, especially if Guero is coming down the pike?
Yep, I mentioned that Gunnison was the 13th most prominent peak.
I'll have to go back and check my East Beckwith photos on that southwest ridge. However, you can see it fairly well from my Sig photo.
I also climbed Guero while I was down there and enjoyed that day even more than Gunnison. I did a loop route, went up the west ridge and descended the north ridge and went on to UN11,757, which is ranked. Sheep doesn't go from that 11ener so I had to save it for another day. I got some really cool photos that day and will submit a page in time. I feel really comfortable in that area. I'll be going back next year to get Smith Fork, Sheep and Coal mountain.
I'm flattered that I have been named together with you! Great page once again. This time I really am curious how you manage to take these beautiful shots through and of all those trees. My attempts always end up too dark.. But we don't have these Aspen forests...
thanks for the nice vote. SLOW SHUTTER SPEEDS and TIMING. and a steady hand. I use a trekking pole but their is no substitute for a tripod. It helps to have a camera with manual modes. Take care over there!!!
Gareth, you're a sucker for a good aspen shot....like me. I have two more future pages that will knock your sox off if you like the aspens. a Mount Guero page and a Sievers Mountain page...stay tuned. Thanks for the vote
Man, what a season you had! I'm envious and under any circumstance nothing I could come close to.
I'd love any page you submit, but since you ask I'll vote for UN13039 (those views I had near Crested Butte this year turned me into an Elk-ophile) or Peak D and C-Prime - I'd love to see what your camera did there. In fact, I don't know where many of the other peaks are!
Sure, Isolation would be on my list for next year, to the extent that I keep lists, but your solo blast on it gives you absolute posting rights. Go for it if you are inspired this winter.

Kane, what about simply saying "It is impossible not to see it from..." A direct replacement of prominent may be conspicuous.

Untitled CommentKeep em coming...your famous last words. Well, I will.
Sitting here, I have no idea which one to submit next.
You tell me..
Peak M (guyselman)
Peak N and O
Isolation Peak
Sievers Mountain
Peak D and C-Prime
Willoughby Mountain
Peak R
Mount Guero
"Cateract Sentinal"
I want to add "Hail Peak" to Attm's Mount Silverthorne page
UN13039-just east of the Maroon Bells.
Are you going to go climb Isolation next season? If so, let me know.
You should submit that one. It would be a no -brainer for me to hold off and let someone like you to submit it.
