Mount Henkel, Tarn...

Mount Henkel, Tarn...

I love the idyllic drama of this scene! The actual Mount Henkel summit finally makes an appearance peaking out from behind its nicely lit eastern wall. The tarn is encountered about half-way up the ascent from Natahki Lake to the saddle.

The mood in this picture is an accurate reflection of the day's entire climb.

great spot

had no idea this tarn was there; i went uphill from the tarn east of Natahki Lake and did some fun climbing en route to the summit. will have to stick to the trail next time!

Re: great spot

Yeah, that was indeed a nice spot! From Natahki Lake head to the saddle via a route taking you between the tree-lined ridge west of the lake, and the east face of Henkel. By doing so you'll encounter the tarn, plus come across the snow fields. There is no trail, but the climb is quite easy.
