South ridge from Watchtower Creek  Sucess!

Just me and the dogs again, not another soul around. Went straight up at the wilderness boundary and gained the south ridge. From there it was just a wonderful hike to the top. The summit was smothered with ladybugs. They must have liked the views, too. It definitely seems like there are not a lot of human visitors to this peak. Probably because it is stupid and ugly.....or is it?

Success!  Sucess!

26jul09 - Had two people's company during my second trip to this remote summit, Jim Greenfield and Dawn Odom. Jim is an old hand at this stuff but it was Dawn's first experience at such a thing. It was a long day - about 13 hours - but well worth it. We managed to get back to the trailhead just before the entire area was inundated with thunderstorms.

28sep06 - It was time to get this summit on SummitPost, so I studied the Topo maps and went for it.

I strayed from my planned route several times (on purpose) to get a better feel for other route possibilities. The extra exploration increased the amount of exertion required so that my totals were 14 miles with over 6,250’ of gain rather than the 12.3 miles and 5,346’ I would've had if I’d stayed on-route. It was worth it and I’d do it again.

This remote summit is well worth visiting.
