| Funny, I just read your climber's log entry. I signed this same log on Jun 22, 2002 after my summit of Langley. I helped the same fallen hiker that day all they way out and actully made sure he made it to the emergency room in Lone Pine that afternoon. It's been a long time, but I actully think I remember talking to you guys on or near the summit. I didn't see the hiker fall...but I had seen him going up the snow field and had a real bad feeling about him....then I remember how bad I felt when you guys told me that someone had fallen. | ||

| Hiked in on Saturday. According to those hiking out, we apparently just missed some rather unpleasant weather, but the rest of the weekend had great weather (despite the forecast). We camped over by Lake 5 and headed up Old Army Pass on Sunday, reaching the summit (from camp) in a leisurely 4 hours. | ||

| I only had to sacrifice some paint on the bottom of my driving up the wrong road to get near the trail head. Like most climbs I do we made this one more epic than it had to be. | ||

| Stayed at the Cottonwood Lakes and did the summit the next morning. Great views of Whitney; with binoculars you can see people on the Whitney trail like a trail of ants. | ||

| Sleeping down in Bishop the night before the hike after a few weeks at sea level was a mistake I should have known to avoid. I easily cruised up to the top of Old Army Pass from the parking lot at Horsehoe Meadows in just over 3.25 hours, but suffered from the lack of aclimitization to altitude the rest of the way and took about 3.5 painful hours to get from the top of the pass to the summmit of Langley. Toward the end I was resting for a minute every 10 steps and almost turned back due to safety concerns/bad AMS since I was alone other than my 2 dogs. I've never hiked so slowly in my life! 12 hours from car to car was longer than I had planned for, but I had everything I needed. I caught some small snowflakes at the summit. The partly cloudy day made for interesting photos, but luckily no lightning other than over in the White Mountains and beyond. | ||

| Hiked in on Saturday and camped at Lake 4. Very peaceful night; not a breeze! Unfortunately, I only slept 2-3 hours. Took off at 7:15am and made the summit about 4 hours later. Had the whole mountain to ourselves; most people only started hours later. Fun mountain! Felt good all day; trail out with our packs I was kinda dragging though. Oh yeah, it was our (Chrissy and I) 5th anniversary; so that was kinda fun :) | ||
