| Hiked in from Horseshoe Meadow to Long Lake on August 5, and set out the next morning for Langley via New Army Pass. The cold wind kept the skeeters away at the lake, though it required all the layers I had plus a balaclava. Got a bit off route and missed the easy passage up to the summit plateau, but found a place to climb without too much trouble (I'm far more a hiker than climber). Beautiful views from the top. | |

| Great climb on Mount Langley this weekend! We ditched the tent and slept under the stars at Lake #3. What an amazing view; billions of stars, the Milky Way Galaxy, and satellites racing across the sky. We also took a refreshing, albeit cold dip in the lake. Unfortunately, the mosquitos were a pest. On Sunday morning we started for the summit and found a dead body wrapped in a space blanket halfway down the slope. We found out she had slipped and fallen several hundred feet to her death the morning before. A rescue helicopter came and retrieved the body. We made it to the summit late in the morning and the view was amazing; maybe better than the view from the summit of Whitney. We could see Mount Whitney, other surrounding peaks, and the town of Lone Pine far below. We then hiked the 10 miles back to the car and drove back home to sunny San Diego. | |

| Dayhiked Langley via Old Army Pass with commando tang in approx 13 hrs. Our third, Aj, developed blisters on Gibbs the day before so he kept the tent after our 3:45am departure. Originally, we planned on climbing via New Army Pass, but changed our minds mid-way. The end of the pass was covered with snow so we headed up an easy class three chute. The 6hr drive home to the bay area was pure pain. | |

| Camped on moraine above the fifth Cottonwood Lake then headed up the pass north of Old Army Pass in the morning. Windy up top, but great weather relative to the past couple of weeks. Found the benchmark but no register. Mosquitoes starting to come out around the meadows and marshes. | |

| Dayhiked Langley's NE Couloir with Forjan & Seano. The weather was very warm below but chilly up top with some snow flurries at the summit. The snowshoes were a definite must have and the glissade down the couloir was a blast. Took us around 12 hours roundtrip. | |

| This spectacular route hidden in plain view is right up the obvious S-Shaped Wall as you look at Mount Langley from Cottonwood Lakes. Just look straight down the middle of the Profile photo on the Mount Langley home page on SummitPost. The S Shape will jump at you. | |

| We made the summit on the way to Whitney. The hardest part was managing the heavy packed snowfield over New Army Pass. Actually needed to break out the snow gear I planned to only need at Trail Crest were snow covered most of the switchbacks top to bottom meaning potentially a 2,000 slide. Very nice peak with a great view! My second ascent. | |

| Headed into the Cottonwoods Lakes Basin with my brother for a few days. Camped at the south end of the South Forks Lakes. Woke up early on Day 2, climbed over to the Cottonwood Lakes, up over Old Army Pass, and trudged the long trek of the south slope to the summit of Langley. Got some good bouldering in and the views were great. I will definitely be heading back and trying to get back into Miter Basin and some of the other peaks in the area. | Friend and I drove in from the Bay Area hoping to get an overnight permit, but all were taken. Ended up just crashing in the car for a couple hours at the Horseshoe Meadows trailhead, then day hiked the peak starting before sunrise. Scrambled directly up the boulders from the south. | |

| A friend (from Davis, CA)and I summitted Langley under clear skies. We camped at Horseshoe Meadow and did the entire hike in one day. Some class 3 climbing is required to attain the summit plateau. The view from the top is spectacular!! While hiking up Army Pass we encountered a hiker from Eastern Europe that had fallen and dislocated his right shoulder. He was attempting to climb a steep snowfield in the Pass without an ice ax or crampons. He had almost made the top of the Pass, but slipped and fell several hundred feet. Several other hikers helped him pack up his camping equipment and escorted him to the Cottonwood Lakes trailhead. We carried out his backpack and tent. On our way out we ran into another hiker that told us that someone had fallen and severly injured themselves a few weeks before on the Army Pass trail. | |
