Via Rough Mountain
Bushwhacked & hiked up to the col between Rough & Mestas. Winds were HORRIBLE. Sustained 30mph, gusts 40mph at the col. Long but easy ridge to Mestas.
A grunt up to Rough Mountain. Talks is loose as shit.

Exhausting
It sure wasn't a long way as far as distance, but it was very steep! I had the weather on my side, and made it up and down before some nasty afternoon storms.

Mestas
My project at work (n Walsenburg) was shut down for bad weather, so I climbed this peak from near the pass and up and over Rough Mountain.
2002 was a very dry year in the area and there was only a few snowbanks leftover from the previous winter and a few inches of new snow.
