First of several (about 4 now). Kind of ashy in the fall, much nicer in the winter when snow covered.

Took a friend visiting from England up St. Helens via Monitor Ridge. Was a beautiful bluebird day and a fantastic climb. A few days later, we went to see the IMAX film depicting the actual eruption...it was amazing to say the least; especially since I actually remember when it happened and how it impacted the Pacific Northwest.

Got winds upwards of 40mph filled with rain. It was fun even though we couldn't see much. My gear was worth every penny today! Will have to come back on a clear day.

Did this with many of the same group I would climb Hood with a year later. My first Cascade Peak climb and experience of seeing the world from a birds-eye point of view at almost 9000 ft while still standing on the ground. Truly special. Going to climb this again in Spring 2010.

The first time the mountain was fogged in. Came back 2 days later to great views into the crater and the nearby volcanoes. Great to see Mt. Rainier after just climbing it.

Winter route from the Sno Park. Awesome weather, except the two hours spent on top looking into the crater. Still an amazing view. 3,5 hours up, 2 down.

This is one of my favorite backcountry ski destinations! The snowmobiles are a turn off though. But that does keep the roads plowed in winter, so.....

This was a very fun hike. being my very first volcano ever, it was fun using an ice axe for the first time! I was 12 years old when I climbed it. The last steep part I ran up because I was so excited! I also climbed it on Jul. 22nd, 2009.

Forced to begin our ski descent at 7600 ft due to white out and bad avalanche conditions. Fun Skiing out. So hard to turn around so close to the summit.

Broke trail through knee deep snow from Marble Mountain Snow Park up to 6,700 feet on the Worm Flows route. Had to turn around when the winds kicked up and the snow started- conditions were sketchy at best when we turned around. We'll be back to finish it off.
