| LuminousAphid | Smoky day ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 27, 2012 | |
| Thought I had already signed this, but apparently not... Did it yesterday and there was still a lot of smoke from fires which severely limited visibility to about 2 miles or less due to sun glaring off the smoke. Could barely see Mt. Daniel as the sun left that part of the sky later in the day, but it was a nice colorful sunset on the way back to the car. | ||

| Went up Tonga Ridge West (also known as Finn), traversed ridge down than up Mount Sawyer. Saw very fresh bear tracks much of the route, to where I was holding my bear spray with the safety trigger undone. From summit of Sawyer, dropped down the trail on the east side, than ridge traversed to Tonga Ridge East (also known as just Tonga). Tonga is the highest point on the ridgeline. Left a register there hanging in a tree. Topo map of the area at http://www.willhiteweb.com/alpine_lakes_wilderness/tonga_ridge_trail/mount_sawyer_172.htm | ||

| Redwic | Awesome Hike!!! ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 15, 2008 | |
| I couldn't believe how many huckleberries were along the slopes of Mount Sawyer. Several bear droppings and/or cougar droppings were passed at various locations along the route. I came across several ptarmigan groups, which made quite a ruckus at my appearance. Very scenic hike. Highly recommended!!! | ||
