| foster fanning | Led the State High Angle Crew | |
| Led the WA State High Angle Crew during a fire suppression operation on the steep slopes of Mount Si in the mid 1990's. Fire fighting in a near vertical environment is always a challenge. Want to get back and do a proper trek to the top. | ||

| Lost count how many times I've been up here. One of the best/close in get a good workout, keep in shape hikes regardless of the season or weather. | ||

| I've climbed to the top of the haystack 3 times now over the past few years. Its a great little scramble, but the hike itself is a bit too popular for me. | ||

| Kyle22 | Haystack is the best part ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 9, 2008 | |
| I've hiked this thing too many times. It's a great starter peak but after a while it gets too easy and its always busy on the weekends. Sometimes I used to put on a 40-50lbs pack and go as fast as I could just to make it a little interesting. For training I definitely recommend mailbox peak over this one. Going during the winter when their is snow makes it a little more interesting. | ||

| Same here. Definitely is a zoo. Went up yesterday and had to deal with some college kids in sweatpants running around throwing snowballs and yelling into their cell phones. Definitely the last time I do Si for a while. Next time I do it, It'll be in a crappy weather. Could use a bit more of a challenge and a smaller crowd haha. | ||

| CzechMark | To the trail runner talking about Mailbox Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Jan 30, 2011 | |
| My girlfriend and I climbed Mt. Si on Sunday the 30th and we met you (trail runner talking about Mailbox Peak to a fellow hiker) at the steps just below the summit flats. You had a close fitting beanie and told me that Mailbox was a good training spot for Rainier. If you recognize yourself from the post, email me. I'd like to pick your brain on other mountaineering topics if possible. | ||

| No 003, personal climber's log. Unrelenting and frosty is how I remember this hike, I don't believe I went onto the haystack the first time (March 21, 2008) but made it to the true summit on the second attempt. | ||

| I usually avoid super crowded trails, but it was raining so I figured it would be a good day to avoid said crowds. There were still plenty of people... On the trail I saw: a guy hiking in aquasocks, a guy hiking in flip flops, a completely out of shape lady crying on the side of the trail, a couple kids blasting "I believe I can fly" with a portable music set up, shirtless guy (in 40 degree weather), plenty of people wearing cotton (it was raining) and many other interesting folks. The best part was the haystack scramble. Great class 3 scramble! even in the rain! :) Glad I went, but I probably won't be back. | ||
