| TimmyTee | Nice! ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 21, 2011 | |
| I'm pretty slow ... at the Gooseberry TH @ 0700, on top by 1030. Chased off the peak by dark clouds, and lots of lightning/thunder that hastened my descent to treeline. But what can one expect in July in New Mexico? | ||

| Took the Gooseberry route this morning. An enjoyable hike, nothing to add to previous reports except that dirt road to trailhead is barely passable by passenger car. I made it in my Corolla but would not try it again. | ||

| Swithich | Nice Cool, Sunny Day ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 17, 2012 | |
| Started at 1PM at the Gooseberry trail head. I reached the summit about 2:30 PM. Note I got off the trail and came up the west ridge of Mount Taylor. This shortened the trip considerably. Stayed at the top for a while to enjoy the sunshine before heading to La Mosca lookout. To get back I reversed my trip heading back over Mount Taylor. The trail is very well taken care of and I enjoyed the trip thoroughly. -Swithich | ||

| joseyinnet | Fresh snow ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 8, 2011 | |
| Went up after some fresh snow on Saturday morning. It's really a beautiful hike, especially with the snowfall and views of snow capped mountains to the East. With how gorgeous it was, I was kind of surprised that I was the only person on the trail. | ||

| Beautiful hike via Gooseberry, though the views were hazy from controlled burns. It was our unborn kid's first 11-er! | ||

| hans.schenk | Cows and Clouds ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2010 | |
| Great short hike with good views. I started at the Gooseberry Springs Trailhead. It took me an hour and 10 minutes to summit. I summited at 12:20pm. I was worried about lightning from the clouds...but it never materialized. I saw lots of "wildlife" of the Bovine variety, plus a Northern Flicker, Turkey Vulture, White-breasted Nuthatch, some juvenile Winter Wrens, and some Common Ravens. | ||

| ncst | Short hike ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 1, 2009 | |
| I had breakfast in a route 66 cafe in Grants, then started driving up the mountain, looking for a trail. Saw a sign saying 'La Mosca lookout' and kept driving. From the lookout, full of antennas, and extremely windy, I saw a higher peak and assumed that to be Mt. Taylor. Went down to the saddle and hiked up the 'Gooseberry trail', which took me to the summit in half an hour and made it a really easy summit!, my first one in the US, clear view at the top. | ||

I made a winter ascent of Mount Taylor with my six year old son Kessler. The full trip report is below: Trip Report It was a rewarding climb and had taken us ten hours and 12 miles round trip. It was a record long distance for him on snowshoes and possibly for me as well. | ||

| Clark_Griswold | A great relaxing hike ![]() Date Climbed: May 31, 2008 | |
| I took my time and enjoyed this hike. It is really beautiful, and the trail is nice. It gets a little hard to follow near the stock tank, but its not that bad. This is the 1st of the 4 sacred peaks I plan to hike this summer. | ||
