| This was my first trip to the White Mountains and definately won't be my last. I took the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail to the Lake of Clouds hut and then climbed Mount Monroe as well. Then I took the Crawford Path to the summit. The views were more than undescribable. It was a wonderful day for a hike and we had some fun on the scrambling sections. The winds were about 35mph avg. The temp. hung around 45 the entire day and it was beautiful. We descended via the Gulfside/Jewell Trail to see the Great Gulf and it was beautiful. I'll definately be making the trip again and I'd like to do the Northern peaks as well because we had bad weather the rest of our stay. It is a wonderful trip and the views are amazing. | |

| 1st Successful Winter Summit. Have been 3-4 times per winter since then. Last summit was November 16th, 2003. Clear and sunny, not typical late fall weather. | |

| This is a great hike. It also has a great elevation gain for an eastern mountain (about 1300m). The only negative point to this mountain is the Auto Road (too much people on the summit with no effort). | ||

| Easy hike up via Lake in the Clouds Hut and on to the summit. Summit visibility zero, bunch of cars, trail crowded with kids, dogs , AT hikers, bleeding teens carrying canoes. | |

| Crowded on the bottom, cowded on the top - came across few in between. Notorious weather was nowhere to be found. Sunny and felt like mid-50s at the top with a moderate breeze. Came down Lion Head | |

| Hiked with AMC group of 8 people. Entire trip took 4 hours and 15 minutes. Started to pour just below the summit while still on the rocks. There were also lightning warnings issued at the summit. Therefore I decided to pay the $24 and take the hikers shuttle down. While there was nothing to see at the summit, I felt a great sence of accomplishment as this was my first major peak bagged. I also enjoyed a hot dog and cold drink at the summit cafeteria. | ||

| Fresh out of school my buddy George and I decided to hitchhike to NH. We Spent some time bashing through the woods around Franconia Notch and then on our way home decided to swing up to the presidentials. We got a ride to the Cog RR and hiked up from there without maps or any idea of trails. We just kept going up. We reached the top in the fog and we thought we had wasted a morning until the wind started to blow. The sun came out and we had the most spectacular weather and views. Idiots luck I guess. | |

| Believe it or not, the "civiliation" atop Washington is both a welcome and startling sight as part of the Presidential Traverse. Massive summit. You'll appreciate the restrooms, chocolate chip cookies, and chili. You'll appreciate, even more, the remainder of the less-congested Range. | |

| Awesome day for a hike. The rocks on the ravine were dry as a bone (except for a tiny trickle at the slab above the fan). Saw three rock climbers to the left of the slab going vertical. Above the headwall there was almost no wind. At the summit, the place was loaded with tourists. The trail down (Tuckerman Ravine trail on the way to Lion's Head) was very crowded. Fewer people on the Lion's head trail, but still busy. Just a little bit of snow is left on Tucks headwall.....Stopped for post hike food at the new Red Fox on Rt16...tried the wood oven baked pizza...my opinion is to skip the place and get a Flatbread pizza instead. | ||

| "With mixed feelings I am reporting that I got to the highpoints of 8 of the 9 states I visited recently on my trip to New England. I flew into Albany August 14th. The next day on my way to meet my cousin at the base of Mt Washington, I stopped in Stowe,VT to 'run up' Mt Mansfield. Taking less than 30 minutes to get to the top I got disoriented and came down the wrong side of the mountain. Got back to my car in four hours! Because of my delay I didn't stop to eat a regular meal but proceded to drive to Mt Washington and got in about 11:30pm. The next morning my cousin (Scheila Hufford)and I headed up Tuckerman Ravine Trail at 8:30. I still hadn't eaten a legitimate meal since flying in two days before. The 'book' says about 4 hours up the trail to the top (I am almost always faster than the book) but it took us 7 hours!!! Because of my jet lag, lack of sleep and lack of nutrition my stomach bothered me all the way up and I was the one who slowed us down. Scheila was in great shape and patiently waited for me along the way. Got to the top at 3:30pm and rode down in a hired van (the $22 was well worth it). Finally had a nice meal that night with Scheila then we parted company, Scheila driving back to Boston and I headed for Maine. My quads were burning because of the back-to-back climbs on rocky trails (at age 52 I usually need a day or two between climbs) and had to give up trying for Katahdin after waiting in Bangor, Maine, for two more days for some healing. Drove to Rhode Island highpoint (a guy chased me off his property), then to NJ highpoint and spent the night in a motel on NJ/NY border. Next day I drove down to Delaware highpoint then back up to Poughkeepsie, NY to spend the night. Next day I drove an hour or so to Mt Frissell in Connecticut and scampered up to the top (about a half hour). Quads felt pretty good. Trekking poles helped. Drove to Mass highpoint. Really pretty. Drove to Albany where I spent the night. Next day drove to Lake Placid, NY, and the following day (August 23 - one week after my Mt Wasington fiasco)went to Mt Marcy trailhead at 7am where I started and got to top of peak at about 11am. Up in four hours and down not much quicker - about three hours. Having the poles helped tremendously.Drove back to Albany the next day and watched the Iowa State-Florida State game in my motel (what a great treat to enjoy some college football!)Flew back to Alaska the next day, Sunday, August 25th. | I had been wanting to climb Mt. Washington via Huntington Ravine for a couple of years. I finally got my chance when my friend Robert agreed to go with me. We left his house at 3am in the morning in order to get to the trailhead at 8am. Hunting Ravine was as spectacular as I had heard that it was. The boulder field below actually seemed to be the toughest part. While there was more exposure higher up, the slabs were easier. Once we reached the top of Huntington Ravine, we were hiking on the tableland above treeline for about a mile til we reached the tourist-infested summit. Once at the summit, we began descending the Tuckerman’s Ravine Trail. This hike ties for my 2nd best ever! (#1=Katahdin) Here is Robert and I hiking the so-called "crux" of Hunting Ravine. There was a section much further up that I considered more difficult but overall the route was not that difficult. | |

| We moved a little slow and didn't top out Pinnacle with enough time to hit the summit. Other wise, a great climb on a very fat Pinnacle - 3 full pitches including the last little ice wall exiting the gulley on the climbers right. | |
